The cover on the March issue of InStyle says it all; purple is the hot colour for this season! As you know, purple is derived from mixing red and blue. The original color purple is actually called Tyrian purple, and the purple dye was made from sea snails which was only affordable to the rich. Hence, purple is associated with royalty, nobility, imperialism and upper class. It is also a very elegant, classy colour and is therefore, an excellent colour choice for grand functions. Purple goes well with gold, pink and gray.
